On October 24th from 2–6 PM, WiCS (Women in Computer Science) co-hosted CSUMB’s 3rd annual hackathon, OtterHacks 3.0!

Three semesters ago, WiCS founded OtterHacks, CSUMB’s one and only large scale hackathon, in collaboration with the School of Computing and Design.

This semester, we took it to the next level! For the first time ever, we partnered with all CSUMB Computer Science clubs, including the Game Development Club, Programming Team, and Data Science Club.
This year’s event was a huge success, bringing together 45+ students and faculty, three winning teams, $400+ in prizes, and tons of free food, swag, and rubber ducks 🦆!
We were honored to welcome Joe Pasqua as our guest speaker, who gave an inspiring opening talk about how to start preparing for job opportunities today. In addition, CSUMB alum Rafael L.S. Reis from Google joined us to mentor participants and support the event.
🎉 Congratulations to our winners!

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Bude Su, our WiCS advisor and Chair of the School of Computing, for her continued support and guidance.
We also want to thank all the amazing club board members and volunteers, including Jackie Luc, Roberto Palacios, Maximilian Marshall, Lindsey Ruiz, Sarah Wafa, Ann Jojo, and Edward Leon for helping make OtterHacks 3.0 an incredible success!
Here’s to more collaboration, creativity, and coding in the semesters to come! 💻
